Do you leave clubs at home when carrying

gotta laugh but how did he not notice, half a brick would be about how much my pencil bags weighs in total lol

what you on about, your driver shaft weighs the same as half a brick!

There's a lot of very manly golfers on this thread.

I normally push a trolley because I have a dodgy lower back. This winter, with it being so wet and all, I've gone back to carrying. I have a small stand bag and driver 4i,6i,8i,pw,sw putter. 3 balls. I honestly don't think it's cost me more than a couple of shots in a month.

All this 'they don't weight much' talk is bemusing. I'm at work, so can't get to a scale, but I reckon an average club is between 400 and 500 g. If I had my full set I would have another 6 clubs (I only use 13). That's an extra 3kg. Now 3kg over 3-4 hours, up and down soggy hills is something I can comfortably do without.

Each to their own and all that...

Carry everything in my signature in a light stand bag plus brolly if required, 3 balls (plus 1 in pocket), tee's, towel, hip flask (Brandy), extra glove, hat, Sky Caddie clipped to bag, wear water proof trousers over shorts so don't carry extra clothing. Does for me.

as an ex marine you should be able to carry loads ;)

Carry bag for me, full set of clubs, half a dozen balls, waterproofs & bottle of squash, not uber fit but 18 holes is no bother at all.

yep - and your estimate is very accurate according to my scales!

my 5 iron gets preference over a 1/2 ltr of water though - mind you Robin's hip flask is another matter!

as to the references to marines (in other posts), and I know it wasn't meant this way, but things change through life.

My hip flask was much light as the round went on ;)

Yep, not as fit as I was and as age now creeps upon me I will no doubt become the same as the rest of the wrinkles on here

I have left 3 out - 6 iron - for no particular reason
7 wood - just dont need it
gap wedge - love hate relationship ;)

6 balls
pile of tees and pitch repair
water/energy bar
loads and loads of hats and gloves

and thats about it!

so much quicker getting it all in/out the car too ;)

As with a lot of things for me its all in the head and I'm sure I wouldn't even notice the weight if I did carry a full set but I tend to ditch alternat irons and go with 5, 7, 9, pw and sw. Been honest it doesn't make much difference either way for me if anything takes the decision making out the shot of which club to use, generally always underestimate how far away I am and how far I hit each club. I dream of the day I can go round with just 3 balls generally take around 12 just to be safe.

Always carry but cleared out my balls, found I was carrying nearly 30! Limited myself to a dozen, if I need more than this I need shooting anyway! Wear my waterproofs this time of year anyway so more weight save and only take the brolly out if I know it'll chuck it down. Take all clubs with me at all times.
