Do we play too much fourball golf?

cant play enough imo. more people to talk to, more shots to watch. oh dear, it took 20 minutes longer than a 3 ball. I had to stay out doing something I love for a little longer.

If its not a comp then 4 ball is the best for social golf , in the last few months any number is good
I agree.
through the winter all our comps are 4balls and usualy in a team format that allows 3 to play on if there is a no show.
I also play in vets matches and they are 4ball.
I have always enjoyed medal play but as my game is heading south these days I think the social side of the game is gaining even more importance.
One of the joys of wrinklies golf is that there is always someone shorter than you off the tee
Dewsweeper!

Most of my social golf is 4BBB - our saturday morning roll-up. But the organiser is starting to lay down the law about speed of play. A penny lecture to all before we go out and feedback (provided in a light-hearted but to the point way) to all groups when we are in. Our roll-up has grown can be quite large 20-24 players. And with that number occupying the tee for 5-6 tee slots we have to get round as a roll-up collective at a good pace or the WHOLE roll-up gets a bad reputation.

This.
Most of my golf is in 3's. Outside of comps I prefer a 4ball, no question. Most If my social golf is in a 3, need to get a 4th to join our little group.
