Dishwasher recommendation

We have had a Bosch one for 5 yrs or so, my mum has had a Bosch one for longer. Both do the job well, have caused no issues. They cost more than the standard, less than Miele, but seem to be pretty good.
 
One of our Bosch ones has been brilliant, the other, less so. Yes, we have two. Don't knock it til you have tried it!
The cheaper one has no quick cycle, and the inside is plastic, which does not dry the dishes as well as the metal one.
 
If you can afford it, stick with Miele. Definately do not buy any of the Bosch/Neff Siemens with the polynox (plastic ) base.
Is it integrated or freestanding?
 
Can only confirm what's been said above. Avoid the plastic based Bosch like the plague, they're garbage.
Unfortunately even the middle /top end Bosch/Neff/Siemens stuff is barely average now.
I do enjoy working on the Smeg stuff though, quite decent build quality, but not sure whether the new stuff is the same.
Oh, avoid Japanese/far eastern stuff as well. Spares can be a nightmare and expensive!

You have hammered most of what is on offer but I'm still not sure what you do actually suggest. I'm guessing you are an engineer who is involved with them somewhere along the line so it would be good to hear what you do actually rate. (I'm not being hostile here, I'm genuinely interested)

He is, as am I (37 yrs to date). I see anything, but mainly the "better" end, so I see Miele every day and they hold no fear for me.
All the manufacturers are building to a price in one way or another, and the British consumer is well known for price over quality.

Perhaps the most pertinent question you should ask someone in this game is "what do you have?"
Washing machine, condenser dryer and dishwasher in Miele in my house,with a Miele oven, Siemens induction hob and hood, and Liebherr fridge freezer (they make Miele refrigeration) and finally a Panasonic combination microwave.:)

I'd go along with the Miele recommendation along with the Smeg machines. I myself have a Bosch, but it is an 18 year old machine and sad to say it, they don't make em like that anymore. :(
 
Thanks all. It's a freestanding one. Think the Miele was at least 12 years old so had a good innings. Just been looking and didn't realise they only offer a two year guarantee. Sure we had longer than that when we bought it.
 
Here's hoping I am not putting the mockers on it... But, our cheap 'n cheerful Beko is 10+ years of age... And, we've only had to fork out a couple of quid to replace some clips on one of the baskets...

They still suggest an average life expectancy of 20 yrs, and although the standard warrantee is 2 years they do run promotional 5 yr warrantees from time to time.
I don't know if you have a cutlery basket one or one with the cutlery tray, but whichever one you have they still make their baskets with the same quality and that is noticable when you compare brands. Personally I would be trying to go for a cultery tray version, and hope to get it on promotion.
 
We had to go Bosch, as our kitchen is German, and the way it interacts with the kick boards is different. Tried another make, didn't fit. If free standing, different fish.

Cheers Bunkermagnet. Currently have one with the cutlery basket. HID reckons there is no rush to get a new one. Will let him do the washing up and see how long it lasts. Last time was 4 days:ROFLMAO:
