I've made a startling discovery today.
I can hit fairways with a driver again!! And its fun!
After fighting a stiff shaft in my G10 that often lead to a block I bit the bullet and PM'd Uncle Bob for some advice. I guess I already knew the answer - and yep I need to swallow my pride and use a regular shaft.
So I went AG in Milton keynes and they had some original Ping Rapture drivers going for £149. Mmm interesting but I didn't like the grip. Petty i know but if I'm paying 149 quid I want to like the grip.
Going round the shop the R7 limited at £199 looked tempting as did the 2nd hand R9 at £225. But then I found a 2nd hand Rapture - exactly the same as the new ones except a bit scuffed on the sole. And it had a green new decade grip on it - I like those!! And to make matters even better they only wanted £77 for it.
SO off to the net I went and it goes miles and it goes straight and I like it.
Cheers Bob - youda Maaaaan!!!

Glad I could help.
How's your putting btw? ;)

Another old saying proven to be true - 'It's not how, it's how many'.

I played with a ladies driver for years, then I had a stiff shaft, now I have a regular shaft. I'm just as bad/good with them all so I have come to the conclusion that it's ME!!!

Can I ask what's probably a stupid question, can you not get shafts changed i.e. from stiff to regular & visa versa?

Yes you can
I had a problem with my 3 wood shaft, so I took it out, put in and old 5 wood shaft extended it by an inch and bingo, a new 3 wood.
I think you are asking why didnt he just get a new regular shaft and stick it in the old driver?
I think the answer is there are so many different types of regular shafts he wouldnt know which one suits him unless he tries them out on the range
