Had a pair of Nike golf shoes bought as a present.

They were soft spikes and let water in which was not a problem as I have other shoes. The main problem was in the heel where the canvas had come lose and the plastic was rubbing causing blisters.

Contacted Nike as the goods were not fit for purpose, hardly been worn. Whilst sympathetic as they had not been bought from Nike .com but online via eBay, I found out where the present was bought from they were totally disinterested and despite sending pictures would do nothing.

Felt this was very poor service and needless to say will be the last Nike product bought.

Is this the normal service other members' have experienced with Nike?

I've never had a problem with Nike and actually thinking about it my last 4 pairs of proper golf shoes have always been Nike, my woods are nike and my previous irons were Nike.

My gut instinct is to say that maybe the shoes were fake? As none of mine have ever let water in or come apart like yours. This may be the reason that they weren't interested as they could be fake.

The problem is your contract of sale is only with whom you bought the goods from, that should be your first point of contact, it is their responsibility if they cannot agree on the fault between themselves and yourself and then they send them to the manufacturer/wholesaler/supplier for a decision.

My experience of Nike shoes is very good.

Why? Ebay is a genuine retail outlet for many stores these days.

genuine retailer or online outfit would sort out the issue you would imagine, but other than genuine retailers parts of ebay are just an online car boot. I wouldn't expect to buy at the local car boot then Nike offer me a new pair if they fell apart.

I have assumed these shoes are boxed and new, i would expect nike to sort me out irrespective of where i bought them from. That is my opinion, not consumer law!

I had a similar experience with a pair of Ecco shoes where the sole split. Bought from a pro shop online and they were the last pair in my size. Ended up taking them into my local AG where I buy quite a lot of stuff and had a quiet word with the manager who kindly swapped them for me and said he would send them back to Ecco.

Fish is correct, the contract is with the seller not the manufacturer.

The issue of return/refund lies with the Ebay seller, not with Nike as teh sale contract is with that seller.
As per above, I have never had an issue with Nike shoes ( I own 3 at present and have had many prior) so I would cast doubt on authenticity of the shoes.

You can however raise a case direct with Ebay in relation to the seller if you feel you have been sold faulty/fake goods.

Unfortunately in this instance it is not Nike's issue to resolve.

Who were they bought from off ebay?

Appreciate all your comments which were really helpful. I bought the shoes from European Golf online which seems reasonable and has sold more than 12000 items.

The general consensus is that I should go back to them which seems the sensible course of action to take.

Thanks once again

Start with European Golf and see where it takes you

I walked a pair of Nike canvas golf shoes into the ground. The bit that finally killed them is mentioned in the op. The plastic bit in he heel wore through and started digging into the back of my heel.

This was after god knows how many miles walking. More than the 35 quids worth I paid.

Must have been a faulty pair for that issue to arise so quickly.
