Difficult times??

Just hope things change in the next few weeks because I loved golf and it's only because of being let down by 'so called mates' I think I have no desire to play. :(

It seems from the above that you were let down badly and the emotions are still raw. Time is a great healer. :)

Just a suggestion to get the fire burning again, why not enter all the comps at your new club and hopefully they will have an Order of Merit going throughout the season.
That way will surely give you the motivation.

Oh, and forget your so called mates, as they are not! And clearly not worth the thought time.

Lastly, try and get involved in some forum meets, you'll be glad you did.

Golfmmad.

Must admit if i didn't have good mates to play with, i would not play. One of the reasons i gave up for years. I am a social golfer, and enjoy the banter, although the odd good round helps. ;)

Sounds like a contradiction in terms, you have to learn to play for fun... and for your scores. One is about beating your mates for fun and the other is about beating yourself and the goddam flippin' awkward course! :D :D

Bet you can't get your h/cap down by 4 shots this year :D :D

You don't like to stick your neck out do you ?
;)

I had a bad dose of the shanks last year and really lost my enthusiasm. I put the clubs away for a WHOLE WEEK before deciding I could beat them (or at least not shank every other shot). I'm probably a golf addict anyway and you're probably far more sane than me. If you haven't got the bug then don't try and force it. You'll play badly and it becomes a perpetuating circle.

The idea of joining a roll up at your club if you do want to carry on and to meet different players is a good shout. We have several on a Saturday and it's always easy to get a game. Otherwise try a different/new course. Whatever you decide I hope the bug bites again soon

Many thanks for the advice everyone. I do have one or two mates at this new club I'm probably joining so hopefully I can stick it out with them and get the bug back.

And to reiterate... My clubs are not for sale! Not when I just got 2 VR Wedges (brand new) for Xmas! Offers over £500 will be considered though!! :) :) :) (that should price you lot out!)

I was pulling your leg of course; hope you get back on the wagon when the weather clears up and we all see the [sun]light.

I blame RickG. This started after he made you buy those dodgy Pro Combos in a Brummy car park for a sausage & egg McMuffin. Your multi breakfast dash would put anyone off golf Steve!!!! :D

Stick with it mate, and not just because Rick has some VR woods he's trying to shift!! ;)

I think you hit the nail on the head!!

In fact I do have the matching VR STR8 fit driver and 3 wood, & a VR 21deg hybrid in the garage. I was thinking of holding on to them, but if it's to help a mate out of the doldrums, then I may be persuaded to part with them.

Let me know Steve and I'll post some pics in the For Sale section and you can have first dibs. As with all my second hand clubs, these are hardly used and will be offered for an excellent price.. :D

You guys are just too kind!! Here's me in a dire state with my golfing career and you lot trying to flog me more gear! :)

That double dash sausage and egg muffin was worth it though!! :)
Might do the same for woodhall Spa and Blackmoor!!

Rick, if you have a VR 3 iron I'd be interested... Not the blade though, you need talent to hit that club! :)

I'm only coming for the banter and to see what else I can't afford to buy off Rick's 2nd hand 'almost new' car boot sale! :D :D
I'd buy now if I were you.....(pre Woodhall Spa discount applies). I could be persuaded to offer attractive interest free monthly payments again....Receive the clubs now and pay between now & Woodhall Spa :D

Rick your just too kind! Yet again another offer to slip you some money I can't really afford for some 'hit once' golf clubs. Next time in the car park I'm going to keep quiet and keep my hands in my pockets and watch some other mug get themselves into debt. :)

To be fair, rick does good prices for good gear and he also takes bribes of McDonalds breakfasts before forum meets!! (I still owe you a mcmuffin!)
So feel free to buy all his spare gear guys and negotiate away!! :)

Is the correct answer! :D
