I didn't want to hi-jack Tommo21's post anout 500 posts so I thought I'd do my own wee post.

I've been registered here for over a yaer and a half, but have looked in on the forum since Jan 2007 I think. I remember looking at some of the memebers of around that time and thinking that they need to get a life all these posts about golf etc. Well I'm past the 700 myself now, look at the forum at least once a day and still thoroughly enjoy it. Maybe I need to get a life now, this is addictive !

When I went on the first Scottish outing to Blairgowrie early this year, my wife was concerned about who Iwas likely to meet, this being the internet etc. Well I was able to tell her that it was Toad who organised it, Madandra was going and J-F was getting a lift from me, she was a bit taken aback when I said I was giving someone I didn't know a lift. Having conversed with J_F on the forum, I felt I knew him. Anyway, later in the day, when I was able to tell her I played with Birdieman and Psycho Joe and met the likes of Boabski , StuartD, Marko77 et al, she felt as lot better!

Its a great forum, yes it does have it's ups and downs, yes I don't agree with everything tht folks say in their posts, just like I don't expect everyone to agree with me. This is the best forum around, there is good, sensible discussion and debate when a good topic has been posted. There's no fear that by adding your tuppenceworth you're setting yourself up to be flamed big style. I've also met a great bunch of likeminded golfers at the three meetings that have been held in Scotland this year. Good days out, good golf, good company and good fun.

Here's looking forward to many more happy hours reading posts, adding my own tuppenceworth and meeting more of you at meets next year.

I concur Dave. The funniest thing aboutn Blairgowrie was addressing each other by our 'handles'.

Great forum, great bunch of guys and some good honest opinions being aired. I am sure we are only a few weeks away from our next adventure.

I will second that DCB, Our meets in the Northwest have been going swimmingly (especially at my place with all the water) :D

I must admit, I am slightly Jealous of you lot in Scotland, you seem to have more members up for meets than we do in Englands favourite corner. So it was decided...

WE ARE GOING TO GATECRASH YOUR PARTY :D

We just have to get you's to sort a game out first!

The forum has become almost like a second home but its not a bad thing. I have met some really good lads and had the great pleasure of being invited to play at there own golden acre. Friends for life??? Probably ;)

That almost sounds like a challenge, Tony. :D Bring it on, big boy.

Seriously, if we get another Scottish Forum day out organised would you and some of the lads be up for the trip? We've had a ball on the 3 outings so far in spite of the weather.

Absolutely. :D

I would love to break my links virginity and where better than to do it than Scotland.

I know VIG would be up for it and I think DOH and GJBIKE would be too, maybe even RGUK if it was a school holiday.

I can see an English/Scottish Ryder cup coming on :D

Depends where about it was, if it was only a couple hours drive, I wouldn't mind a one dayer, But if it was 4hours+ it would have to be a B&B job.

Give us some suggestions and we'll work around you i think would be best. Obv few weeks notice would be needed cause I guess this is going to be a weekender and I would need to do some chopping and changing to the rota.

Irony were Hijacking this post considering what the title is, anyone care to start a new thread?

I'd definitely be keen to do an overnighter next time, Tony. Means we could all get a proper natter and a few beers after our game rather than all scattering back home in a rush.

DCB has sent you and me a PM and I'm sure we'll start a separate post to tempt you northwesterners further north for a day and night out. Maybe even tempt Dodger and IMO2 over from the northeast (Goswick).

Have it at Goswick, great links and ideal to get to especially for me!
Sure I could fix us a decent rate especially if the day was covered as part of the mag....bit of free advertising in return for decent rated green fee.Just an idea for starters guys. :D

When/ where/ how are the English boys planning travelling? Overnighter? Any thoughts?
Hell if it's only 4hrs we could walk there on the morning just to warm up :p.

Seriously i'm up for it but would need a couple of weeks notice.

I am attending my nephews wedding in Decemeber, new year would be better for me but I'll see what I can do dependant on date/s

A group from my club play Goswick every year.

They say its a great course!

We've always gone past saying "we'll have to play it next year". We play Dunbar, West links, Gullane No 1 & The Glen.

So if its Goswick and the dates are ok put me down.

When we played dunstanburgh and goswick,we all stayed at
the dormer house(?)about 800yds from the dunstanburgh course.
O.K....was 6 or so in each room but was clean and had a good bar(essential!)and the food was O.K!
Would that be acceptable for a group of strangers????
Just a thought!

I am excited about this meet, Ideally I wanted to play in Scotland (just to say I had) but if Goswick is going to attract more players then I suppose it will do... :D

No seriously, I just checked the website out and it looks spectacular!

Sorry guys but have been informed by SWMBO that I snore(dreadfully)and that if I do get her permission to show up
then she wants all your names and bank account nos,to give you all a share of the insurance money!!(what can she mean??)
Does this mean that I can't have a few small libations?
If that's the case then I need seperate digs(what a leper)

Goswick was on my mind too, guys, given that Dodger and IMO2 are members.

However, Southerness has now been floated as a potential venue. West coast. Slightly closer for the guys from the North West (an hour closer) and it is actually in Scotland (just). Plus, a lot of the Scottish guys are travelling from the west and they've had to play East coast courses on all of our trips so far.

Heard many good things and nothing bad about the course. What d'you think?

My dad says that Southerness is one of the best courses that hes played and it was in fantastic condition(he played it with his work earlier in the year and they only play cracking courses). If there were strange faces aloud to participate i would be interested depending on my shift pattern and whether Mrs C gave it the all clear.I stay in Irvine on the west coast so it is not all that far from me.
