Couple of excellent talking points in this today.

TIGER WOODS

Basically he is saying that there are too many fellow pro's who souund like they have given Woods The Masters already, unlike YE Lang who actually stood up to him and beat him at the PGA last year. Agree with this.

So many of the American Pro's just give the game up to Woods and i wonder if some actually dont think it is in their interests for their sport if someone other than Woods wins when he can. He drives Golf in the States in a way we do not totally see and some of them see the money he makes for the sport as the more important thing.

MICHELLE WIE

The other point was about Michelle Wie. Now here is a person who was driven by sponsors and family far too hard too young. They wanted her to be the female Tiger for all the marketing opportunitys that that would bring.

Well it now seems she has done a bit of growing up. I seem to remember when she was at a recent Solheim Cup she actually mixed with some of the other girls and had the time of her life. Lawrenson is saying she is now looking like she could be a proper force because of her performances rather than because of Marketing.

Good for her.

Have a read if you can and see what you think.

I'd be amazed if any pro when in a position to win the Masters would be thinking it's in my best interests to let Tiger win here.

In fact it's one of the most ridiculous things I've heard.

I think all the pro's accept that they earn more money because Woods in on Tour. All you need are a few top tens a season and you're a millionaire.

There are also some who are beaten by Woods before he even tees off and build him up to deflect from their own shortcomings.

There is no doubt, or at least there hasn't been any doubt(we will see if this is still true) that if Tiger plays his best, he wins, however, he also wins a lot when he isn't at his best and you have to ask yourself whether that would be the case if more players were prepared to put more belief in their own ability and not accept defeat because it's Tiger.

Maybe when a player feels intimidated by Tiger, they should call up a vision of him being chased from the house by his wife brandishing a 9 iron?

mmm

I know what you say here and i would agree with you with regard to the Majors but.......

Just dont totally rule it out. I say again we dont realise how big Woods is to Golf in the US. It prob is over the top to say other Pros let Woods win ever, but i am astonished by the lack of guts that is shown to Woods. Funnily enough i think the International players put up a better show to him than do the US.

Anyway that is not the point really. What i hope to see is great competition and Woods back will heighten that in ways we do not see here.

Excellent post. I think Phil M. said it best when he said he reveled in playing in "Tigers World"

The pros are so lucky playing now with Tiger Woods playing as Golf has a very nigh profile.

Funilly enough you know thats all i want from Woods. I dont need appologies etc. He has done what he has done. Affairs and sleaping around in Marrage goes on all the time.

What i want from Woods is for him to be hitting the little white ball again...and the other pros to compete.

Couldn't agree more. I really don't give a stuff about what Tiger does off the golf course and really have no time for "celebrities" in general outside of seeing them do whatever it is they may do.

All I want to see Tiger do is play golf and I don't expect an apology, neither do I feel mislead or betrayed.

If any one of us raced Usain Bolt over 100 metres day after day, no matter how hard we trained, tried, were mind coached and no matter how much guts we showed we would never beat him.

In a similar way it is the same with any golfer taking on Tiger Woods over 4 rounds. If one person is simply fundamentally better than the others then that person will win most of the time. That is the case with Tiger, you can say others let him win but that is definitely NOT the case in my opinion. Other players will be trying their absolute best to beat him but because he is so good other players are mentally intimidated and have to come out of their physical comfort zone in order to get the birdies needed to beat him. More often that not that backfires as they are forced into taking on shots they can't play easily on very difficult Major courses and they end up losing. It's not for lack of trying, just lack of ability in comparison to TW. That's my take on it.

So why did Tiger not win during the scandal-free Masters of 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009?

Was his combination of physical, mental and technical superiority less then?

Totally agree Tiger woods is not a team player, however it would also take a special type of player to play with him as he seems very imtimidating and to me that can be detremental to his partner.Players can also be imtimidated by the Tiger woods circus that follows him around the course im sure it effects a lot of players game,as i said it would take a special type of player.
