DWP how do you deal with the incompetence of a department like this.
My dad died November last year and I am sorting his estate.
Probate is sorted , but eight weeks ago I got a form to fill from DWP.
Because he was in hospital for ten weeks they want to claw back his cares allowance.
Fair enough so i fills it in posted it.
Four weeks later I get a letter to say havnt received form.

I phoned them nice chap on the phone tells me “ it’s ok we do have your form we will sort it.
Another four weeks gone by another letter telling me no form.
Informing me of the relevant law why they can ask for the info.
Its hard enough doing this without the DWP cock ups.

I can’t distribute the estate until all claims have been met so they are prolonging this for the family.
I am not easily offended but this could upset a lot of people who have lost a close relative, it really is very poor.

You can add the Inland Revenue to that one. My dad had no end of problems with them in his last few years. Anything up to 3 new tax codes a day because he had 3 pensions, including the State pension.

I must say most things I dealt with myself ( probate , utility company’s, tax.) have been great. But the DWP are making my &£#+*&£. Blood boil.

Try a letter/email to your MP and the Secretary of State, works wonders.

Eventually, my dad approached his MP at one of her surgeries. She was brilliant... he still received all the automatically generated cwap, but just sent it on to a senior case officer at the tax office.
