I'm delighted for Darren. Sevvy is no longer with us and apart from him I can think of no other worthier winner of the Claret Jug. A stalwart of the European Tour, all around nice chap and the kind of guy you could enjoy a beer with. no airs just down to earth.

I usually miss the last day of the Open playing cricket. The rain sorted that out and I have never been so pleased to miss a game.

It was marvellous to watch Darren Clarke play superb golf in very difficult conditions. He deserves the prize for his play but also because he has contributed to golf massively over his twenty plus years on tour. Deserving it does not usually mean you will win but it did today.

Absolutely thrilled for Darren - just reward for one of the games nicest guys. Really good to see a number of his fellow pros congratulating him on his way to the scorers hut as well - show's how respected he is in the game. And nice of Leftie (no, not our one!) to put his arms around him at the presentation ceremony and obviously say some nice words.
