But what was it about the threads deleted that was different from all the other threads?

All I can think of is that if a poster has not posted for so many months (under GDPR data holding restrictions/limits?) then he/she can request their posts to be deleted - and as that would be a mare it is easier to delete every thread in which his last post was made - say - over 3 months ago.

I should perhaps know as I have not long ago done the mandatory GDPR training my company has required me to do.

Maybe if they posted countless times in those threads it was just easier to delete the whole thread.

Makes no real difference to me. The deleted threads were tired and not adding anything new really. The word association one was a real post booster for some folk which is a pure waste of time. I think the Footie threads from past seasons should also get canned as they are definitely no longer relevant.

Maybe restarting the more political threads is a good thing? Clean slate where no one is dredging up rammell from months ago to throw it in your face.

Personally, I wouldn't mind post counts being binned off altogether as there are some sad folk on here who really get off on it for some strange/weird reason.

The 100 post threshold for the for sale section could be managed a different way maybe. Just have a red dot next to your name and as soon as you hit the threshold, it disappears?

I would guess the poster posted mainly in those threads, hence they are the ones deleted.

To be fair, if the threads are re-started, most have, then it doesn't really matter. I can't believe people go back and re-visit pages from weeks or months ago. Get rid, start again, not really a problem.

Guys n gals .
Speculation regarding this subject isn’t helpful.
Mike has explained that it is a GDPR issue and this is the only current way available to deal with it,

Content of the deleted posts (Brexit) isn’t the issue
So please just accept that GM had little choice and let’s move on

Going to close this thread now

Thanks
