I kinda understand why certain topics have been deleted, though I confess I have no idea what GDPR actually means, so my question is this....what kind of info would be in these topics that might breach whatever GDPR is ???

It's the latest General Data Protection Regulations.

Ye I get that, what I'm wondering is, what's in those topics that would breach that ? Folks names/addresses???
Perhaps people getting fighty?
Threads only get deleted when people can’t help themselves and get abusive, contemptuous or similar.
Thats the way I see it.

Random irritations has gone though :(. I'd become attached to that thread, it was a place to let off steam about life's little annoyances, not the big ones.

BiM has started a new one, don't know what triggered the deletion but whoever kicked off needs a slapped wrist. That thread had become an institution. (okay I am getting a bit melodramatic now)

Do the new GDPR rules mean that you have to delete a persons data if they request it? If so, could it be that someone or more than one person has left the forum/deleted their account and has requested all of their posts are removed? In that case the threads would become almost unreadable as there would be posts missing, and replies quoting those posts, so it's easier to delete them and start again. Possibly.

Read Mikes post in the lounge

That's what I was thinking, basically calling on their 'right to be forgotten'
GM might need to revise T&C so that registering to use means accepting the forum history wont be deleted or developing a system solution to allow them to delete a user in isolation to a thread/s

Why would anyone care about post count or is it like attending forum meets, you're not seen as one of "us" unless you have 40k+ posts

Not so, but Homer is a special case - genetically incapable of resisting the urge to comment on any topic whatsoever.
