I got a text on thursday from a "mate" who is coming of our golf trip on Sunday. His girlfriend's friends have invited them to a christening on the same day. The golf trip has been booked for six months. The christening? Don't know when the invite was sent. But, what would you decision be?

Go to christening, miss the first game and turn up at the hotel in time for the beer that evening?

Tell the girlfriend to have a look at herself as the your golf trip has been on the calender for 6 months?

If it's not family or very close friends, then your "mate " (is he really or just some bloke?) should go to the arranged golf trip, and the gf attend the christening.

We have a rule in our house, if it's on the calendar then that's the end of it. It's the law. If the golf was organised first golf it is. His girlfriend can still go to the christening.

If it was a family christening, go to the christening. If its a long standing girlfriend's friend of a friend, go to the christening. Christenings tend not to have a 6 month lead time. There's always other golf trips.
