Debate! When will tiger make his comeback?

and maybe he might never return

Agreed - said this as soon as the long lay-off was announced. It wouldn't surprise me at all.

Sadly, I also think he might never return.

If he is going to play again, he's going to have to face the press feeding frenzy sooner rather than later or they will nibble at him for the rest of his career.

Hiding himself away is only going to make it worse.

As I say, it's sad because 99% of people (the non golfers) now view the game's best player as a figure of fun. :(

agree with that comment, I think he will take another year and depending how his divorce goes may never return. :D

My money is on him doing one of these big TV interview things, confess his sins and get a huge wave of public sympathy and then get back out there. The media will get loads more column inches, he gets a chance to make a "humble" apology to his fans and we all move on.

Might work in America, but I think in this country the tabloids will get the bit between their teeth and won't let go.

I think it might take longer than April.
What went on didn't just take a few moments of foolishness or temporary temptation, I reckon there are some really deep issues. It's surely going to be tough for Tiger to come back unless he's in the right place mentally. What that is and how to get there, I couldn't say.....
I doubt his game is too far away.

And as he only plays here once a year, I am sure he'll really care what the red tops have to say about him....the UK is hardly the centre of his/the world is it in the the grand scheme of things....

I'm sure we've discussed this before.....

I'd like to see him back but I fear he may be gone for good.

Golf has been his life since he was three but Borg turned his back on tennis and I imagine he'd been playing tennis since a child.
He's the most decorated golfer in the world and his achievements have transcended not just the golfing world but race divides - something JN never did.
He's taken the previous overweight world of golf and dragged it, kicking and screaming, into the gym and told it to work out aerobically and to bulk up.
His charity work is now a big thing - the TW foundation

So,

Whether he returns depends on his own personal goals and ambitions which will stem from his childhood. He's won the most PGA tour titles, he's been the world number 1 for years and has won 14 majors. He's inspired thousands of people to take the game up, he's set up his charitable foundation and, perhaps the most important one for him, he's showed the black community of America that they can now stand shoulder to shoulder in the golfing arena with their white community contempories.

Only TW knows whether he's met all of his goals

TW's Dad had children through a previous marriage - TW would have seen this first hand and, perhaps, this is his greatest fear - that he's estranged from his children. Hence, the sex addict help and his commitment to his marriage.

I want to see him back but I fear that golf isn't at the top of his list at the moment.
