Couldn’t work out how to write you a letter so I am doing it this way.

First of all well done on being number 1 in the rankings for readers, secondly with this success and 83,000 + readers why not use this success to improve the quality of golf for us all and claim yourself some publicity?

My idea was to give away a pitch mark repairer with every mag for one edition? How much would this cost? They can be plastic and a little bit of mettle with a little GM logo on with this you could run an article on how to correctly repair pitch marks.

This would mean 83,000 + more pitch marks in peoples golf bags with a clear idea on how to use them = Better golf for us all.

That is a great idea, you could also have some for winners for their clubs, like giant ones (2 foot) to be placed on the winners club course. I saw it somewhere that a course was going this and it could be something addressed which benefits all and highlights this problem.

well done HTL.

EDIT to say that maybe a little section in the mag to show people the correct way of repairing them?

Nice idea.

Personally I make a point of trying not to step off of a green without repairing a pitch mark other than mine ( of course I do mine as well :D !! ). It all helps

I think it is a great idea but can I just add a little addendum and suggest a ball marker, pitch repairer double offer with the GM logo loud and proud

Can we have a GM hand towell, and a few Pro V1's with GM printed on them as well? or is that pushing our luck?

or a G10 Driver each with GM stamped on the shaft? ;)

Does that come complete with GM cart bag and electric trolley :D ;)

One of our past Captain's gave out pitch mark repairers on his captains day, I think everyone lost them. It was a great idea.

I would love a GM pitch mark repairer.

I was thinking of posting somthing along these lines, I repaired 8 pitch marks about 6' from one pin last night - pitch marks and footprints in bunkers they really get on my t**s.

Its just lazyness, but, I have seen people stab them to death with a tee which is sometimes worse.

I hope I do it right, I place my repairer under the bottom of the mark and from the side lift and then again at a different side and once flat I step on it to level the ground, is this correct?

i watched daren clarke and his dad v rory mcillroy and his dad on satanta the other day, daren repaired his pitch mark by jabbing his repairer repeatedly around the area then tapping it down with his putter, i tryed this the other day and after u could not see any damage.

Yes, it is a good idea however I would think the readers of GM are already savy enough when it comes to repairing pitchmarks so the initiative may lack in effectiveness.

Where I play (and I would assume other places) has excellent material posted on how to repair pitchmarks and there are repairers in various styles/prices available from the pro shop but I still go out and find an average of 3 or 4 per green.

Awareness / availability is not the issue. You can lead a horse to water.....
