Danner walking shoes.

So I am looking for some comfy walking shoes and looking at reviews these came up. Went to Cotswolds today to have a look at them and they had none in stock. Now bearing in mind these can retail up to £190. I came across these.

Now it says there Japanese imports which means nowt to me. So I’d there something iffy about them. I currently have some Merrell walking shoes which I thought would bed in after a Couple of outings but flippin eck they are tight around the toes. Oddly enough the guy in Cotswolds said they are a narrow shoe. So thoughts on these Danner appreciated and also any other super comfy shoes.

Are you going up hills and mountains or just regular walking, albeit a few miles in the countryside still? I've got some of the Decathlon own brand hiking boots, Quecha I think. Silly comfy and I have wide feet.

Not expensive but I've been really happy with them. If you want to do proper hiking then you'd need to spend more but for casual walking you could do a lot worse.

I don't know anything about the brand you mentioned.

If it’s just day to day, I’d recommend ON trainers, cracking shoes

Decent shoes and boots for walking in. Decathlon outdoor gear is really good quality, the winter boots they have are well insulated, comfy and hard wearing. I absolutely love their walking trousers as well, every bit as good as Montane and Rab for half the price.

But to @Tashyboy post. As LT asks it hugely depends on what walking you’re planning on and the terrain you will be covering. But from why you’ve mention about tight in the toes, you need to step away from the internet and ordering online. Take a trip to your local GoOutdoors and have a look at a selection of wide toe box shoes and try them on before wasting money. Salomon do the best for comfort with ortholite insole and goretex uppers plus they can take a battering ( I wear them to my job and they get hammered but remain slipper like). Others to look at would be Terrex or even Scarpa (but spenny though).

Agree with Lucifer, footwear, especially expensive footwear, should be tried on before buying. Once you know they fit well you can start looking online for ‘bargains’.

I normally wear trainers when walking around cities etc. but in Marrakesh I wore adidas clima cool and the top
Of my left foot ( bony spur ) was painful after 20,000 steps. 60,000 over three days. Ave got it into my head to get a good pair of walking shoes that will do me for hill walking and weekends away. On top of that I am Hoping they will be my go to shoe when in Norway for a week and Alaska for two weeks. So I am Ruling out trainers. I did say to the guy re ordering online without trying on is not going to happen. I suppose One man’s comfy is another’s purgatory.
Dropped a clanger not trying on the scarpa today. Although the Mendel caribe GTX were not bad.

Norway aye! Well I know a fair bit about walking there!! Absolutely get yourself down GoOutdoors and try Salomon, Scarpa and Salewa I wouldn’t wear anything else waking out there other than those 3 brands. Great for comfort, hard wearing, your feet, back and body in general will thank you for it. If you need a wider toe edge toward the Salomon and Scarpa as some Salewa can get narrow.

Another big shout out for Scarpa.
I used to do some rough terrain walking and always bought Scarpa boots. They were comfortable and hard wearing if looked after.
