Have played the old course before and was impressed, never played the Woosename would be interested to hear what the differance is between the two.
Thanks for any info.
I've never been a great lover of the "Old" course. Don't know why, but quite a few funny holes on it and it's never been in really good condition when I've played there. Greens have been woeful at times. They had to move a couple of holes around to make way for the new course when it was built and it suffers because of it.
The Woosnam is totally different, much more of what you'd expect to find on a modern day "championship" course. Nice fairways and slick greens but it does get wet during the winter months.
I prefer the front 9, the back 9 tends to lose it's way a little bit. Some cracking holes on it though.
I understand that you can only play the Woosnam course if you have buggies, whereas you can walk the Old course.
My choice would be to play the Woosnam course every time.
I've played the Old course a couple of times and thought that the front 9 was a bit uninteresting with fairways going up and down, so to speak, but the back 9 is like being on a different course. Some interesting and tough holes if you get the shot wrong.
Stayed at the hotel and played both courses last year. The Old course was very dull IMO, however, the Woosnam is a totally differnt story. Good chanllenging course with good, quick greens.
The guys I went with have since returned but gave the Old course a miss, they played at Chart Hills instead.
i find dale hill a typical park land course. there are some good holes on the old course, and some very good and long holes on the woosie. this winter the greens have been in exellent condition, and some of the lads played there last week and reckon the greens are the fastest they have ever been. the fairways on the woosie are very good, especially with the weaather we have had, but if you are off the fairway, it is wet and muddy. it is enjoyable course with some deceptive holes. i hope you enjoy it. i am playing there friday, and if you want an update, just say.
