Cutting Driver shaft?

I've just bought a TM Superfast 2.0 driver and while I love the light weight and the extra distance I'm getting, at 46.5" the shaft is an inch too long for me. I'm going to re-grip anyway so I thought I'd cut the shaft down at the same time. Leaving aside the affect on swingweight, does anyone have any experience of cutting a graphite shaft and if so what tools did you use?

I would just get a pro to do it, £4 probably

I have done it, using a razor saw (get them at hobbie shops). But dont cut just from oneside. Work you way around it, to cut down the chance of splintering it.

Take it to a Pro or AG and just ask them to cut an inch out of the shaft when they re-grip.

Would say, had half an inch chopped out of a Callaway driver once, made it stiff as a broom handle

taking anything off the butt end will not change the stiffness of the shaft (at least not measurably). Taking it off the tip WILL change the stiffness (and is commonly used to change stiffness to suit the user).

In terms of doing it, removing the grip is simply with a knife (just beware of cutting into the shaft). Removing an inch of shaft I use a Dremel, but a fine tooth hacksaw would suffice. I would but a wrap of tape around the area to cut to help). Regripping, well there are plenty of youtube videos available for that.

If your not confident with any of that, then by all means take it to a pro, but it is very simply and certainly not something that requires professional help.

Thanks for the advice guys - I normally do my own re-gripping so I'll tape up the shaft & use a razor saw for the 'lopping'.
