Away with work for 4 weeks but getting some new custom fit irons when I'm home , how long roughly are you looking from the fitting to receiving the irons ??

Depends on who you buy from (retailer but mainly manufacturer), have known it to be as little as 4 or 5 days and as much as 4 or 5 weeks. If you need them sharpish then ask for lead times before you get fitted

Mizuno can get done inside a week, my dads Callaways were about 2 weeks not sure about anyone else

I was custom fit on a Sunday at AG for a set of Mizuno JPX 850 forged they were ready to collect the following Tuesday so 6 working days.

I was waiting for my TM Psi irons 4 weeks. Manufacturer did have some delays in delivery of material for club heads. Best thing is to ask wherever you gone get your fitting for them to call and double check with the manufacturer.
Mizuno can be very quick. when i ordered my MP4 on a Monday they were here by Thursday, same week.

On the subject of custom fit...i'm booking to go to Titleist St Ives...do they only fit the current range (e.g. 716 irons) or would they compare with older models too, such as 714s?

Thanks for the replies off on a golfing holiday 2 weeks after I'm home so was hoping to have had plenty of practice in with them first 4 weeks is a really long time to wait isn't it ? I'm getting fit through my club pro so will ask him at the fitting see if there's anything to be done to speed up e process
