Hi all, looking at getting new irons after Christmas, but looking into the second hand market, possibly mizuno mp 52's.

I'm not really sure whether it is worth getting custom fit on used golf clubs or not, because the shaft is already selected by the previous owner.

Well it depends really. As long as the shaft is the correct flex for you then that should be okay. Main problem is if they are not the correct length for you. Lie angle is easy to change for your local pro but to lengthen clubs can get very expensive. But you have to get fitted so that the clubs are correct for you. You will get the benefits from having the correct setup. I could never play with a standard club as I have 1 inch added to the length and 1 degree upright. If I try and play with standard clubs I can still hit them but I loose control of the ball as I can't swing consistently with them. Go to your local pro and have a chat with him about getting him to fit your second hand clubs and see how much he would charge.
