sunday should be OK, ability permitting Strauss will take his usual over cautious approach and want 500 odd on the board before declaring then we will have a bit of a scare as Pakistan find some ability and bat for nearly the remainder.

Their batting performances in the last two tests have been absolutely abysmal. Embarrassing.

Not trying to discredit England because they've bowled extremely well in particular Jimmy Anderson in the 1st test was incredible.

At this rate we look like we'll be in for a hiding in the Ashes :-(

Then again it aint gonna swing like this in Oz.

Pakistan look worse than Bangladesh. I don't think this is ideal preparation for an Ashes series and can see us struggling particularly with the ball. As usual we'll get found out by the extra pace and bounce when we bat and if they have a decent spinner he'll probably frighten the likes of Petersen out cheaply

I thought this was the first sighting of the 'lesser witted' cricket - the dumb one and therefore no direction in life.

I suppose it could still be!

Cricket!!! Bucking CRICKET!!! Who cares!

And how many catches did they drop ?

It makes KP's form look better than it should. I'm not Boycott's biggest fan, but KP's style does bother me for a test player.

Cricket, ah yes, that would be the game they play for a few hours then scoff cream cakes, then continue for 4 days and call it a draw unless there is a dark cloud then they go home.

Both KP and Cook look hopelessly out of touch, but KP won't be dropped no matter how he plays or his scores over past year suggest. Can any team afford to go to The Ashes with a couple of out of touch top order batsmen. Don't think so, but selectors don't have the bottle to do anything about it !

With the selectors it is the case of the right face has to fit.

Cricket is one big old boys club and if you play for the right county or wore the correct public school tie your chances would be hugely increased.

Strauss is never a captain, what he is though is a jolly nice chap from a spiffing background and thats what pleases the old farts at the ECB.

As for cook, he seems undroppable, I say get him out and get Rob Key in there, he would do the business for sure.

I wouldn't drop KP. He might be out of form but he's still the most talented batsman in the team by some distance. You're never going to get a situation where all 11 players are in great form.

If I was an England fan I'd be chuffed at all the positives not complaining about a couple of players who aren't in good touch.

I'm thinking ahead as yes there are lots of positives but how long do you wait for KP to find his form. He is 18 months (24 innings) since scoring a ton and would the Aussies/India/Sri Lanka keep faith for so long. I don't think so and as good as England are playing they can't afford any passengers going into an away Ashes series.

Well on the basis of reputation, Wayne Rooney hasn't scored for England in about 10 months. So would you drop Rooney??? In my opinion I'd have him in all day long.

As for Pietersen.... He will no doubtedly have a big score soon (despite his hack against Pakistan this week) and all will be forgotten. He's the Wayne rooney of English cricket for me.

Lostheplot you are absolutely correct imo.

Form is temporary class is permanent. I suppose you could liken it to Tiger Woods. Would you put him in the Ryder Cup team? I would.
