I'm moving to Coventry for a couple of months over the summer, and looking for a course to join for a couple of months- I emailed the GM at Hearsall yesterday and they've offered quite a favourable rate, so just wanted to ask a couple of questions on it:

1. How's the course, layout and condition wise? Nice track?
2. What's the atmosphere like? I'll likely be turning up myself, so am I likely to be able to get a game, particularly in medals?

The second is really the biggest thing- I joined the Warwickshire last year, and don't get me wrong, the courses were excellent, but it was very corporate feeling and extremely cliquey- people only seemed to ever play with the same people and were very reluctant to have others join them...

Fish/Full Throttle the best to ask on here re option in Coventry

(Fish is a member at Coventry golf club which is a cracking track, not sure whether you could get a short term option there or not)

See if Kenilworth or Coventry GC will do a deal, both better courses and offer a better challenge. Kenilworth is the friendlier of the 3 and a better atmosphere in the bar.

I'll give them both an email tomorrow then, see what they can offer me- naturally, I'd rather not have to pay a full yearly fee when I'm only there a couple of months! The two of them both certainly look like nice tracks from their websites

Coventry would do a deal for you, pm me some further details (dates, age etc) and I'll ask the initial questions for you.

We have introduced a flexible points scheme membership without a joining fee which would be attractive to people like yourself.

Coventry is the better test imo with far more various holes offering different tests.

The atmosphere is very good in the bar at the weekends and on Tuesday draw nights which is always full, the crap that is said about it being snobbish and dated is a myth, we can wear jeans and trainers in the bar, we have young committee members and a current young captain so the club is very forward thinking.

If it was as stuck up as people would have you believe I wouldn't be in my 3rd year of being there playing for the club teams and travelling away with groups of them on society days. A load of us have just come back from from a few days at Worsley Pstk.

If it's mainly the quality of the course that's important to you then Coventry GC (Open qualifying for 4years) is the top of the 3 mentioned, if not in the whole area imo.

Coventry too cliquey

Rubbish 😂😂

I joined on my own and I've never been welcomed as much at any other club I've been at, it's an urban myth.

Where do you play at and have you been a member at Coventry?

Just my view - it's not the done thing to mention names on here I believe so I won't. But I could!!!

I'm a member at Hearsall and it's a cracking course, some of the best greens you'll find, last year was busy for course works, just had a new watering system put in so it should be even better, very friendly, and San Miguel on draft.....perfect
