You've got a few in the area, closest is Cheshunt - 5 mins - (not played it though). about 10 mins or so is The Hertfordshire (playing that in a couple of weeks), a bit further (15 mins) is Brickendon Grange (nice course) - don't know if either have club hire or what state they're in.

within 10 - 20 mins you've also got Crews Hill, Whitewebbs and Nazeing

I used to live in the area, not been there for a while though.

Cheshunt is a basic municipal course, not the best, Hertfordshire is a nice setting but dull, Brickendon an ok members course, nothing special though.

You may be better heading Enfield way, somewhere like Bush Hill Park or Crews Hill may be a decent option (in better nick than Enfield, my old home club) or youve got Trent Park and Whitewebbs which are both municpals.

If you wanted something a bit better and didnt mind a bit more of a journey then one of South Herts, Brookmans Park or Hadley Wood would be decent options

Try Hatfield London near Essendon - 2 courses, excellent condition and very scenic (owned by a Japenese Company).

I was a member here for two years. Let's put it this way - if every club I visited was as good as this one I'd be a happy man.

Both first tees are well away from the clubhouse so none of that first tee shot pressure.

Old course - classic parkland style

new course - Japanese/American style (although this is nominally for members and guests only you might get lucky)

Quite a lot of water especially the old course.

Green cuckoos, deer and Heron are always around and there was a resident swan family on a lake that runs down the side of the 16th fairway on the new course.

If you end up going here please let us know what you thought of it. I miss it even though it was the best part of a ninety minute drive from central London for me to get there. Worth it.
