We had a Pro/am at the weekend. 24 touring pro's, including ex Ryder cupper Paul Way and Zane Scotland. Was interesting to see some proper golfers playing a course I know so well. Some were up and coming Euro pro players, and some were bottom end European tour players, but they were all pretty good.

They set the course up so the record would go, so no silly pin positions, (odd that they make the course harder for the monthly medal, but whatever).

One of the pro's shot a 63, which beat the old course record of 66 (par 72, SS72). He was chuffed for about 5 minutes, until a 62 came in (started with a bogie too).

The previous record holder was an amateur kid in our open last year, Callum Shinkwin. He was selling drives for charity down the 13th. You could get him to hit your drive for you for a £5, and you got to keep what ever ball he hit it with (Penta or ProV). Flippin eck, this kid can hit a ball. Into a head wind he was hitting it 340 odd, pretty much every time. Not much run either, all carry. (no bull, the hole is 491 off the back, and there is a road at 150 from the green, which he was getting to consistently off the tombstone).

flippin eck 330yd carries into a headwind, that I'd love to see, any vids youtube of this fella?

just googled and looks like a +3 or +4 handicap, makes me humble when I'm happy with a 270 yd drive with carry and a gross 79 :o
