Well today was the first time since November 23rd that the course was fully open,it was open 2 weeks ago for 2 days but only 10 holes and even then it was dangerous to play.

Considering the weather we've had up here the course has stood up very well to it and the greens were superb bar the 16th which had a lot of water on it.

Now on to the golf even after practising all thru the shutdown my golf was crap i ended up with 30 pts in the winter stableford. My driving was shocking i eventually went to my 3 wood to get it in play,my irons were ropey but the pleasing part was my short game was really good with a number of up and downs, roll on getting my R11 :D

Am just glad the course is finally open so i can get out on it to work on the things i've tried practising at the range,i think i'll just put it down to a bad day.

If anyone's looking for game give a shout

Glad I'm not the only one itching to get my R11! :D

Weather was appauling this weekend, so I didn't get out and ended up helping to coach my old American Football team. Wore my Nike Waterproofs though, and they work a treat! :D

Looking forward to my first lesson so I can rid myself of the slice and start to get some consistency going into the
season (hopefully!)

Oh and I'd be more than chuffed with 30 points!

Tain was still not open at the weekend so a few of us went though to Brora on Saturday. The beauty of our reciprocal deal is it covers about 50 miles so somewhere is likely to be open. Brora was on full course again apart from the 13th for which they now have a new winter green just to the left of the summer. Not a bad idea for them as its only 125 yards off the whites. Course was playing long as some off the winter tee's are further back than the whites and no run on the ball. Great to get out and have a swing, despite losing a fiver.

Hoping to get out this weekend at my new club for the first time this year. *crosses fingers*

First comp of the year on Sunday. 32 points. 3 snap hooked drives, 4 3 stabs, one lost ball. Killed my card. The rest was ok. Course not too bad, but jeez the greens were slow. And bumpy.

So, up point 1, not a good start to the year.

On the other hand, nice to be playing again. Sort of.

Jesus Murph your playing counting comps already ,i was 3 the same 3 snap hooks then a block at 14 ob ,ditched the driver and went to the 3 wood a lot better.
Roll on saturday i've got the bug again.

After all the rain we have had today, I'm guessing the course is closed again. Hopefully it will dry out a bit during the week as I'd really like to play Sat/Sun next weekend and sort some of this dross out.

Played yesterday and course was fine, although greens were slow. Not sure what it will be like now as we had rain all night and morning. :(

Got to wait another two weeks for the first qualifying comp of the year after the January stableford was on temps. Got some games sorted for this weekend and if this rain buggers off soon and the course can get a couple of dry days to recover it should be ok for the weekend

It was blowing a gale all weekend here, but we missed the rain, well almost. Lashed it down when we got to the 15th on Sunday afternoon and half the crew promptly disappeared to the pub.

But I had the experience of Spey Valley to fall back on (and a half decent card in my hand) so completed the round admittedly with 4 bogeys :)

Still nowhere open around here, did manage to get out with Atticus and Mike today at St Michaels.

Was good to get out after 9 weeks and as expected scores were not great but still enjoyed the game and banter.

Steve, Mike and I are playing Friday if your off and fancy a game, give me a text if your free mate.

John.

84 off 18 in a howling gale plus lashing rain on the last 4 holes.

You're not doing yourself any favours here for the forum meets :D

Was it 4 iron from 130 yards windy like we had on Sunday at Prestwick?

oh aye! - thanks for bringing that to everyones attention!

Not quite, was across most of the course, did make a full PW about 20 yards too long on a 150 yard par 3 though!
