Course Condititons

Played Tain at the weekend and the course is still in excellent condition. We don’t have winter greens or mats, but half a dozen of the winter tee’s are in different positions to normal on the course. We don’t usually hollow tine, just spike and scarify, and the greens are pretty good all winter.

going downhill fast.
two temporary greens already, one at a hole that has not previously had one doesn't bode well.
they have done squat about improving the winter tees (not yet in force so far) although the 17th will use its old tee now that the new is in place. the winter tees that we have are mostly really awful narrow concrete bases with tired mats in which it is impossible to put a tee. (most of these bases are cracked so it's impossible to get a level stance)

time to move on I think - though to where is the problem

Went to the pracitce strip at mine and after an hour fancied 9 holes ,actually saw the greenkeepers cutting and rolling the greens, its November for christ sake, these were better than yesterday ,fast and true, there better than some courses in the summer.

Played Saunton yesterday and the course was in fantastic condition. The greens were fast and true, and my low punches (tops) were running like jack-rabbits. Difficult to believe it could be in better condition in the middle of summer. God i love links golf. :D

Not overly optimistic for the weekend after todays torrential rain landing on alread sodden ground. I guess the only redeeming feature is that the gale force winds will help blow it dry. In two minds whether to joing the Honorable Society of Schlappers and bash it round a waterlogged course or have a lie in and hit the range before going to see my mum.

Think I'm going to take the plunge and play tomorrow morning (unless the forecast is for heavy rain) so it'll be interesting to see how it's coping especially with all the ditch clearing they have done
