Having posted about our visit and got some negative responses, I thought I would acknowledge that the greens
were a cause for concern although accounted for to a large extent by the unseasonal and extremely wet weather prior to our visit, offered some justifiable excuses.
Nonetheless we were extremely pleased with the course layouts (Phoenix the shorter and Griffin the more
established) winding its way through some majestic woodland and some stunning short holes whether par 3 or 4s over and around a number of lakes. The views towards the Downs, the peace and quiet and the deer ambling over the course at dusk, enhanced our experience. The walled gardens of the neighbouring properties and school; the
fairway lined rhododendrons (almost an Augusta feel) and the warm sunshine made us feel glad not to be at work and at peace with the world!
The accommodation was acceptable and the food, ample - with friendly staff. Worth a look and stay despite the
greens - let's all hope for better weather to help the greenstaff on all our courses!
