going on holiday to cornwall 1st week opf June with the wifes family , might need a day on my own :fore:

any suggestions where i will be able to get away from it all :ears:

Trevose is an enjoyable course, some say its overrated, it possibly is but I always enjoy playing there.

Also St Enodoc on the other side of the Estuary, Cracking course but a very tough test.

I play St Enodoc every year. Its a cracker even though I'm not a links fan, not long but tough when the win blows. It will cost about 70 quid to get on but ring in advance and they try to team you up with others so you dont have to play on your own.

Trevose is not worth the green fee nor a patch on it as the man says.

look into the Twilight offer at Trevose, Im pretty sure it was £25 after 4:00pm last summer.

The full rate is about £60. A little steep IMO.

I'd second both of those, I also like Perranporth, not sure how close that is to you. Some say it has too many blind shots, I'm with Tom Weiskopf on that one.

hmmmm problem is i will probably only be taking a pencil bag or even trying for rentals

cant see me paying 70quid for a knock with half a set :D

St Enodoc is not only the best course in the county, it's one of the best courses in the UK. Brilliant test of golf, it will completely destroy you but you will love every minute of it. Get yourself a county card and you can play it for about £25/30 IIRC.
Perranporth is also great fun, very quirky and not what I would call a 'serious' course due to all the blind shots but another really fun course, again you won't be disappointed. I'm another that isn't impressed with Trevose, about 3 or 4 really good holes, the rest are very average. If you don't mind driving an hour or so north you can get to Saunton which is well worth the trip but as you have SE on your doorstep I would go with that.

Anyone played Lanhydroch , thats pretty close to where im staying, like i said i mite only be taking a half set or trying for rentals

Lostwithiel should also be close then - I have played both those and preferred Lostwithiel, though it does have a couple of blind shots.

Bude & North Cornwall is a friendly club. Not as great a test as many others but decent cost, relatively easy to get on and a decent 19th

I'd second that emotion. Well the friendliness of the club house was a bit open to question as I only had my Ecco streets with me so I was told I could only go 4 yards or so along the bar but not past that point with spikes on (why???). So I ended up squinting down the other end of the bar to see what hand pull beers they had, but couldn't walk down there to look myself. Stupid. Having said that the pro was really friendly.

But the course was great fun. There are loads of blind shots and at first you wonder why they do not have bells to ring when you are clear. Then you realise this is because bells would be chiming out all the time. I played it twice in one day which, if you have the stamina, I'd recommend as your first round may be a bit frustrating as you won't know where you are going on a few holes.

Not sure if you are driving and if you have a car top box. But if you are and you don't, then invest. Mine has carted my clubs along with me on many a UK based holiday and has kind of paid for itself by me not having to rent clubs every time.;)
