I have lots of VHS tapes that I want to get onto DVD's. My VHS machine has two scarts and the laptop running Windows 7 has HDMI. Can it be done? Any assistance greatly appreciated.

A mixture of TV programmes and films and a tape of our fly drive to to California and the canyons some years ago.

You could get a dvd recorder and hook it up straight to your video player. That would record your holiday tapes ok, but you may have problems with the pre-recorded films due to their copyright protection.
Having said that, I'm sure there will be someone who knows a way round that.
