Consistency v Occasional flashes of excellence ?

I would much rather veer from the mercurial to the horrendous than plod along like a middle of the road bed wetter!

If life was always consistent it would be unswervingly dull!

Just my humble opinion...

Snelly.

I missed this and and spoke to me, but I think this is my natural state of mind and that makes me hit harder and be less consistent.

i just thought i'd go through all my stats on Howdidido etc from the last 3 years, and work out the averages to see if it backed up my 'consistency' feelings.....its quite interesting, and probably tells you quite a bit about your game.

Our Course is a tight SSS69. (Par 68.)

2008 - 9 Medal Rounds Average = 82.7 shots
2009 - 16 medal Rounds Average = 81.7 shots
2010 - 16 medal Rounds Average = 81.4 shots.

sllllooooooowwly in the right direction at least !!

Since the middle of June I havnt had a single 0.1 back from my comp rounds. That says consistent golf to me , however , I've had some very good rounds thrown in too so i guess i've managed to combine both. I'd still take that one superb round of 2/3 under though and have a couple of missed buffers.

Just not been able to close out my good starts either. Even got to 4 under in one round only to finish over par. Very frustrating

I have done a statistical analysis of my medal rounds this yaer and have noticed a worrying trend. Averaged about 0.5 over par on the front 9 and 3.5 over par the back 9. hhmmmm really tough our back 9 but still should be playing it better than I do

Been (another) strange year for my golf. I feel as though I am hitting the ball better and more consistently than ever before but just haven't seen an improvement in my scores.

I have only had 3 rounds all year in the 80s but on the flip side, haven't broken level par all year either in any comps. Have either played bang on handicap or in the buffer in too many rounds to mention.

Worrying trend towards the end of season at my home course, a fairly gentle par 4, par 3 start and my recent rounds have seen me a minimum of 3 over par stood on the 3rd tee!! :( Behind the 8 ball before I even get going.

I am guilty of this too.
It always takes me a few holes to warm up, even when I hit balls on the range first.
Is there a little course nearby where you could play a few holes before a comp?

I would just settle for having a round where I didn’t have one really bad hole and racking up and 8 on a par 4 or six on par 3 every round.

Played in the Medal finals on Saturday , could only win if you had won a monthly medal this year.

Shot 7 over for front 9 then went par, birdie, par, par, quadruple bogey, par, par, par, par. Shot 82 gross 73 net missed winning by 2 shots and 2nd.
:D

It's got to be consistency. I made 9 pars on Sunday and unfortunately the other nine holes contained a few horrors which ruined the card. The horrors are far moe disappointing than the pars, which I come to expect, are pleasing.
