durring lessons with a pro i've got to see what my swings doing from my ball flight, or so i thought.

had a taster session with a new pro today. i hit about 10 balls with my 7 iron all straight and all 150yrds. (i felt quite good). the pro said that i was cutting across the ball. so i was wondering how can the ball flight be straight as a needle with good distance if i'm cutting across the ball. i tried to ask the pro but he didn't make much sense.

any ideas

Did you try a longer iron or a wood during your lesson?

just my driver and i was attacking the ball with a open face and cutting across because the ball almost come back to me.
but when he was refering to cutting across we where using the swing analysing software on my 7 iron

The more loft you have on a club, the less side spin will affect the ball.
If your swing was a touch out to in and your clubface also a touch open, the ball flight would look straight.

That is why your longer clubs slice the ball more...less loft. And probably hitting the driver too hard, therefor swinging even more out to in.
