played around today, and caught up to a two ball that asked me to join them as there was 3 4balls in front of them, i drive using my hybrid cos my drivers being naughty, and smash it just left of center,

they asked if i was new to the club and they guessed i was a single figure player because of my swing setup and shot played ect,.... i replied i wish and that i play off 28! they where genuainly shocked! as was i they thought i was that good

my second shot shown them why im a 28handicapper.....:(

just hearing that shows me that if i stick at the practice and the lessons, i know i can play much much better golf, its good that others see the potential there aswell, they also asked me to look into joing there 4ball team for future comps!

good day at the course!

Re: compliment today of the course :D

You must have been waering proper golfing attire if they thought you were single figures :D

Something similar happened to me yesterday: I played with two guys I had never played before with and the first 4 holes were 3 pars and one birdie. At that point one asked me what I play off and I said 17 but now my real hc must be around 20 because of some swing changes. They asked me if my handicap was inactive...

To make them more comfortable I went out of bound 3 times in the following holes, never had another birdie and just two more pars. Final result 96 gross... last of the three ball...

Sadly the opposite happens to me most time's now, people can't belive i'm off 13 when they are helping me to look for the ball in tree's (again) :( I'm amazed no one asks me if i would like a few more shots when we play :D

Smiffy got asked if he'd ever played before last week  ;)

Don't worry about the odd duff ones. You obviously made an impression and its always good to get other members to play with at the club on a regular basis. It all helps get integrated and you'll never struggle to get a game. Sounds like a bit of hard work over the winter and that handicap will tumble next season

Look for Tony and Gordon for the comps. They are very nice and accomodating. Usually always in a two so if your quickish, you'll fill the 3rd place.
