Do you have a preference ?

Competitive golf for me. Just love the high's and low's of competitive golf and the challange of keeping the score going or trying to turn around a bad start to the round. I would play in open golf tournaments all the time if i got the chance.

Don't get me wrong, i enjoy the craic of social golf and a relaxed round with friends is great, but i think i must be competitive by nature.

I love social golf. It's still comprtative but the Craic is great as does the chance to try out some new smack talk. Competition is great, but I love social knocks.

i love competitive golf and like to play as much of it as possible.

plenty gents opens and local comps, any chance to cut the handicap and i'm happy.....not so happy when it goes up though!!!

I'm the same.

I play once a week with two mates and we have our own handicap system. The winner goes down a shot, the loser goes up a shot and the middle stayes the same.

We are also techno geeks and keep a spreadsheet on the state of play, looser also buys the drinks and tea cakes. It's interseting how the handicap system works so well.

I enjoy my social golf but can't beat an Open competition on a course you've never played before. Cheap green fee, something to eat afterwards, get to meet new people and the outside chance of possibly finishing "in the frame".

Both. Nothing like putting your handicap on the line in a medal or stableford but you can't beat the savage banter in the Saturday roll up with a couple of quid at stake
Yep exactly the way i feel , nothing like comps to keep your game on course, but some of the most enjoyable rounds have been with my mates playin for a few euros ,€1 a hole skins is great banter even if you loose them all it doesnt matter coz winner throws it over the bar anyhow , also in a friendly round i try different shots where as in comps i go for the safer option if there is one ..
