Coming over the top/too steep/big divots

I am having some problems with my swing at the moment - it is too steep and I am taking very large divots/catching the ball heavy. I think this all stems from coming over the top. I get away with it a little with my irons (sometimes) but when taking a wood off the tee I have been skying the shot with a large divot.

I have been placing a headcover under my right armpit to prevent a chicken wing and to try and keep my swing a little more connected which seems to help a little. I have also been trying to think of swinging out to the right but that doesn't seem to help much.

I would appreciate some drills, or is there a video out there you find useful for this. Are there any training aids you would recommend, perhaps the ball between forearms?

Thanks

Place two headcovers on the mat/ground as you can see below and dont hit them
