Come on Golf Monthly you can do better than this clickbait nonsense

They've also put one up with numbers for how far the average player hits a 7 iron...
1.There's no such thing as an average player.
2. What is a 7 iron?...lofts, as we know, vary between 26 and 34 degrees or about 25 yards depending on swing speed, quality of strike....etc etc etc
3. The data they use is from Shotscope....so it's total distance not just carry......total distance relies on so many variables that including it is a waste of time.

Even if there was an average golfer - how far they hit it has little use to anyone else......

Seriously? I know GM are trying to increase website visits but this is just silly.
Crikey....

He finishes off the article by saying "yeah I know it's just a pipe-dream".
That's like what we did at school, we could write this big piece of fiction and then at the end say "and then I woke up" instead of creating a proper ending...

E minus...

They're just as bad on Facebook. About 70% repetitive Rory McIlroy posts and a bit of Bryson and LIV. I just blocked them a few days ago. Makes my scrolling much nicer.

I think it would work OK in pro events.

But only with this condition...

From the tee to the hole everything is cut to green height and you are only allowed one club.

I think this would be a very interesting game.

I remember, as a teenager, a few of us had a little competition to see who could whack it the furthest with a putter off a tee peg and off the ground.
I won the off-the-ground one with my Petron Impala.
Lad with the Ram Zebra was useless - but he was the best proper golfer.

Yeah, it just gets worse and worse. Utter drivel. Imagine wanting to undermine the only skill that pretty much anyone could perfect if they worked at it hard enough. The great equaliser.

New ownership has diluted the quality sadly.

Too many clickbait articles online obviously looking for interactions.

Can you still buy GM in print , last time I saw a copy was in a dentist s waiting room years ago and that was probably years old 😂

It's a suggestion that's been made for donkeys years, probably appears in some printed form every 20 years or so.
Not arguing but I've honestly never ever seen that, started playing in the 80s.

Well looks like the article has done exactly what it wanted to do

I take it you’re suggesting that because people are talking about it, it’s gaining attention which is only a ‘good thing’ as it raises the profile of said publication — “there is no such thing as bad publicity” etc?

Totally disagree with that fallacy

Marketing 1-0-1

Yes people are talking about , it’s gaining conversations

That’s the whole point
