Isn't it dreadful stuff? BUT, do you remember when we were kids and it was awesome stuff???? Really sharp tasting and the bubbles went straight up your nose???????

Why on earth did they change the recipe????

Odd post? Well maybe, but my grandson (13) and one of mine (21) drink it like....well something that greats consume very quickly. I spotted a bottle of proper coke in Tescos. very expensive, and did a taste test using full fat Coke / Pepsi and this dear stuff (which I tasted myself and it was close to the proper coke of my youth). Guess which got the vote? Yup the proper coke. So why did they change to the sugary, flat coin cleaner they dole out now?

Hate all of the stuff!

Though it was superb at taking the rust off my Carbon Steel TP Mills putter a while ago!

I don't do coke, the diet and sugar free versions are minging and the full fat version coats your teeth and is well just nasty. That written I don't tend to drink a lot of pop, the occasional Iron Bru to help with a hangover (Iron Bru, Banana and a bad if salted crisps, great hangover cure)

What is "proper coke"? I'm confused by the OP. Are you talking about actual coca-cola or some other brand called "proper coke"?

I drink litres of coke-zero and very little else. Quick guess, I drink about 2.5-3 litres a day. So much nicer than diet coke, which is quite frankly rotten. Both have zero sugar and use sweeteners, but coke zero uses the same recipe as normal full fat coke, where as diet coke is more aligned to the recipe for the now defunct "new coke"

Amazing how good diet coke, diet pepsi and pepsi max are compared to the diet drinks of the 70s. Anyone remember how bad Tab used to taste.

Also, anyone remember the fad of clear colas when you had coke Clear and Pepsi Crystal I think.

I'm a coke zero man too. Diet Coke tastes too sweet for me whereas Coke Zero has a sharp, crisp taste that is just the ticket when its nice and cold!

Coca cola is only good with some ice, some lemon and big shot of rum in it......imo
Horrible on its own, not as bad as Dr Pepper (what is?) but far rather have a sprite, irn bru or ginger beer if I must drink pop.
I do recall 70's coke being good but that may just be invented memories.

Tend not to drink any fizzy drink unless it's used as a mixer.. They are all horrible unhealthy concoctions..

IIRC, there are a couple of "facts" that circulate about Coke. My favourite is the one that states that you couldn't eat all the sugar that was in a can of coke without vomiting uncontrollably. There is an added ingredient that suppresses this urge.. Ii love this one, whether it's true or not :D

Tab Clear i think it was?

Absolutely gipping if memory recalls

Love red full fat coke though

That and Irn Bru are the only fizzy drinks that i like

Apart from Britvic 55 orange, which is amazing in any quest to kill a hangover. However that is probably a bit too up market for this conversation

Hardly drink fizzy drinks anymore, but I must say, coke-a-cola in a glass bottle, you just can't beat the taste! Going on holiday to wales in 3 weeks (got a day booked at Tenby) and will be going to bookers and getting a few packs of glass bottle coke :-)
