Cobra Amp Cell Driver

Whilst not the Amp Cell, just bought my 15 year old a Cobra Amp D (9.5 stiff shaft). He needs to get off his 11 deg regular flex and I needed something cost efficient at the moment so got this to try - brand new for £50 on ebay from a PGA professional, the boy absolutely strips it..... If the Amp Cell is an improvement on that you shouldn't be too far wrong, but why give up the XR? That's a great performing driver, at least in my tests, and it's what I'm saving for....

Yes, the Amp Cell in lovely blue is still in my bag with a regular shaft and it must be 3 summers old now. When I got it I tried all the usual suspects available at the time and to my surprise the Amp Cell was the one that just felt right in my hands. It feels lighter to swing than many others and that suits me well. The sound of it at impact is good, a good metallic smacking noise without being too tinny or dull. The distinctive and colourful looks aren't to everyone's taste, and I felt a bit embarrassed by it at first, but the performance of it is great and it's really grown on me to the point where more traditional drivers all look strange to me now.

Negatives, not many, I had to shorten the shaft from stock as it was too long for me (I'm 5'6") and given how much I took off I think it's excessively long for most average players. That obviously made the club lighter in swingweight but again that suits me.

All in all, I liked it so much I went and got a Bio Cell 3 wood and hybrid as a result and they've both been excellent clubs for me too.
