Can't wait to get out and play in my first ever club championships, 36 holes in a day, never done that before either, most I have ever done is 27 and that was only a month or two ago. I then saw the forecast for the weekend. 28 degrees! Now I don't moan about hot weather, I love it, but 36 holes in that kind of heat can't be good for you! Going to do a Tescos run tonight and stock up on bottled drinks, mainly Lucozade I'd have thought, just need to find a way of keeping it cool!

Anyone got any other tips for staying hydrated and keeping cool on Sunday?

Have a shower at lunch, and put fresh clothes on, and if you own 2 pairs, use a different pair of shoes after lunch. If it really is sunny, then may be popping the brolley up to walk under so that you are in the shade for a fair bit of the time

Swanny, I feel your heat related pain. I have my first club champs final on Saturday, 36 holes strokeplay in what was this morning forecast upto 30degree heat.

I love hot weather, but not sure about 18holes in it to be honest. This is also my first 36 holer, so lots of water, a bottle of squash and fruit in the bag to keep hydrated and hunger at bay. Certainly won't be drinking beer in the lunch time break either in that heat. Someone on here advised to take a towel and spare clothes to me to freshen up as well, think thats a grand idea considering the heat expected, and some bloody suncream.

Good luck by the way

Take a fresh glove to wear for round 2 and also take it off whenever you can to keep your hand from sweating - mine get sore if they get too sweaty.

Agreed brolly up helps, plenty of water not just sugary drinks. Wear a cap. Enjoy!

ditto the others shower, clean clothes etc etc drink plenty of WATER not fruit juice or lucozade, and lash plenty of sun block on nothing worse than getting burnt

Forget the fizzys - you don't need them. Just plenty of water. A fresh pair of socks is a treat & much better than you might imagine - especially if you can't manage a quick shower

36 in a day is a survival test. The best player on the day might not win but the best prepared probably will. Water water water! Small sips on most tees. If you are thirsty it might be too late to avoid dehydration. Avoid caffeine. no cola or beer for lunch. White shirts reflect the heat. Some food for the course? One of those nutty bars on the 9th each round. Some brekki as well.

Its a marathon, not a sprint. Dont take risks and keep your ball in play. Oh, and have fun!

Edit - Oh and choose life! (for you Trainspotting fans)
