Clothes ruining golf?

Yeah, each to their own. No objection to a bit of bright wear so long as you can carry it off.

I didn't realise some colours could be seen in the same month until I saw Murph at the weekend.....and I believe he had toned down. And I was strangely disappointed that Viscount had gone "all normal" on us.

Said characters (for that is what they are) deserve colourful clothes. Good on them for brightening up my day.

Personally I get dizzy just wearing a striped top with my boring beige chinos but I'm loving some of the new garb...............just on others.

Point of order, though. Ye still canny wear a kilt on a golf course. We've discussed this.

:D

These things seem to go in phases. In the sixties and seventies there were some great colourful players (Doug Sanders and John O'Leary anyone?). In the 80's and 90's I really liked those loud Pringle jumpers (still got a couple) and those crazy Cross Creek shirts. Then beige chinos and navy polo shirts seemed to take over. I wouldn't wear what Poults or Fowler does but if they like it, good for them. I'm pretty dull now (age) but still partial to a bit of yellow. I'd probably draw the line at "non-golf" wear, like football shirts, but otherwise I agree that it's not the colours, it's whether you look smart.

I'm not adverse to wearing the odd loud pair of shoes or bright shirt and have no issues with anyone else doing likewise. Having seen Murph, and Steve (Viscount) live and in full effect there is nothing wrong with it and to be honest it livens these events up. Even Justoneuk has a fetching pair of green strides and lets not forget Smiffy (although we try) and his lovely white pair.

Played yesterday, great day but there were 3-4 players (in different groups) that were dressed in outfits more suited to a circus.

Not that i have a issue with colour but these guys resembled more of a fancy dress night out than a golfer. My point is, that it tarnished the image of this course and to a small extent my round?

Am i being a boring fuddy, or dose anyone else think along similar lines?

Deal with it and move on.

You played shite and your looking to blame others clothes?

Get a grip.

Andy

Not sure what being over 50 has to do with it. Im not into bright trousers but you will see me on the course in my bright lime green NIKE polo shirt and my black and white trilby most weeks and Im 56 and proud :-)

I agree with the OP, clothes will be ruining my golf for the next 6 months. I find it hard to swing properly when wearing every bit of clothing I own trying to keep warm.

There's nothing wrong with loud as long as there is some style with it. With a lot of todays lot there isn't.

Poulter is a good example of being loud but still stylish (this year anyway), Daly looks plain daft, Fowler has a kind of 'yoof' style going on he gets away with but the orange colour outfit for day 4 is not good imo.

oh, I'm up for daft - might be second childhood if it wasn't for the fact that I never bothered leaving the first.

as is sometimes said, and too little remembered, you're a long time dead, you don't have to practice - take the p a little along the way
