It was brilliant last night - tee'd off about 4:30 me and 2 mates and we got round 12 holes! finishing at 6:30! I can't wait for next week when the light will give plenty of time to produce more practice and game time! The fairways will re-open on the 1st April and the full length course will be back! This is my favourite time of year, full of promise and hope for the season ahead! I'm playing off 9 and hoping to reduce the handicap by 2/3 shots at least. But we'll see what happens! Anybody got any targets for the year?

Same! I'm looking forward to evening golf!

Target this year is to play more golf!! I want to find a way to play at least twice a week and get to the range as much as possible too.

So I need to find more playing partners (Edinburgh based forummers fancy a game?). I'm not a member anywhere yet but been toying with the idea for a couple of years and need to get a handicap.

Going to get a block of lessons to hopefully sort out my inconsistent ball striking.

Scoring target this year is to score in the 80s more often than not!

Agreed, it's a great time of the year, full of hope and expectation. We've got our first qualifier of the year tomorrow. The weather looks set fair....can't wait. Currently sitting at 9.9, you can guess what my initial target is !!! The exclusive SF club. Even if i get to 9.4 for one week at least i can say "I used to be a single figure golfer"

There's not a better feeling then when you get to the 9.4 mark! I'm currently sat at 8.9 - I was 7.9! but poor end of the season did some damage! So my initial goal is to get down to 8 within the first couple of medal rounds. Our first singles comp isn't until 16th april! Grrr! which is frustrating!

Its our first proper qualifier tomorrow too. First time this year off the back tees always makes for a bit of a culture shock. No more driver wedge, and lots of driver three iron instead. Point one back for me i think.

Got first round match tomorrow (can't recall if it's scratch or handicap K/O) - and I haven't played for near 4 weeks. There may be trouble ahead...

Was at the club AGM last night, club's in a good place, making money, membership up, course in good nick. Light nights are coming in, as others have said expectation and looking forward to getting out on the course again.

It's all very positive.

This time of year certainly beats October. This is where I have my plans, my targets and my dreams! October is where they have been missed or you realise how that number you wanted isn't what you want now!

This year I will get to cat 1 by June, push for 4 or less this season.
Have a double free comp (already done:whoo:so aiming for more- 10 may be greedy but going for that)
Win a trophy
Be in the club winter team
Put in a decent summer matchplay performance
Break par for 18 holes

That's a good place to be at then! What club do you play at?

Tomorrow is meant to sunny and no wind - perfect conditions for a good knock!

Go for it mate!! I'm at 8.9 right now and aiming to go low!! bring it on!!

Captain's drive-in tomorrow. First medal is next weekend, though I wouldn't be surprised if the first qualifying round of the season is next Wednesday's stableford. As for targets, another year like last where I came down 3-shots would be good. If I could get to 9.4 that would be awesome, but is probably a tall order.

My targets for this year are to establish an official handicap after just joining a club for the first time, and then to push on from there. Enter a few comps, play a lot more regularly and just enjoy it!

Im hoping to play as much Golf as possible starting next week and hopefully the Handicap will go in the Right direction, I've never played so little golf as I have over the last couple of years.

Its made me realise that plenty of game time is definately the difference between just striking it well and putting a good score together.

It certainly was good to be out in the sun today, things start in earnest this coming week, a pro-am then ladies AGM on Wednesday, first qualifier on Thursday, Club AGM on Friday and then Captain's drive in followed by opening mixed on Sunday.
