Played against my uncle this afternoon who is a member at cookridge in Leeds.

We played matchplay and he is off 16 and I played off an unofficial 28 and managed to beat him! I won the last hole with a par to beat him.

Every other time I have played him he has beat me by about 4 or 5 holes so glad to see i am getting better.

I still shot 111 which is a little disappointing especially with 5 pars but I had two 10s an 8 and a 9 on the card so that's where all he shots were dropped.

As I'm relatively new to golf this has really got me serious about playing a lot more competitively. Just need to find a club now!

Well done. I guess one of the advantages of being a member is being able to get a handicap, play in competitions but also to join in all the regualr roll ups as well. You'll get to play with lots of good guys and always have a game. If the roll ups are like my club the humour will be tougher than the golf!

I have played Cookridge several times and is a very nice course, also happy memories as it gave me my first ever birdie. I am a member of Wike Ridge just up the ring road so if you fancy a round give me a shout.
