Christmas work partys ?

My work has a company one in the Aberdeen Exhibition Center every year about 1000 people go,i've never went once cant be bothered going upto Aberdeen in the winter staying overnight etc.

But the shift i work on have one every year were we all go out and get hammered always ends up a cracking day out this year we're going to St Andrews so should be a good day out.

We are hitting a teppanyaki for dinner on the company and then going to spank our lottery winnings on ale and wine in town. Kebab on the way home and lie in on sunday. Good times

Bladeplayer, ours is at Goodison this year.

I'm guessing we'll have findus crispy pancakes on paper plates, french bread pizza for main course and angel delight for afters.

The down side is they only do bitter.........:)

Nar, I'm back at a company that I worked for for 11 years, a 12 year gap, but more than glad to be back, as they are a good old family firm where the vast majority get on.

We've got a good meal, free ale all night and it's a motown night - sounds good to me. The thing is I'll have to do a "newcomer" speech again, not as a pimply 17 year old this time, but as a 42 year old with loads of ale down him. I'll have to be careful.

Public sector worker. We had a working group set up to decide for the entire org what the Xmas party would be. Recent poll on the intranet showed over half won't be attending and 20% were a maybe. It's all paid for by the worker as you'd expect, how dare public money be used!

Stopped going on ours after the first two years, I don't care for half the office and the wife works in the same department so leaves us stuck for child care. I'd much rather put the £50-£100 towards my own Xmas.

Not massively into anything that relates to socialising with work colleagues. Just like to keep my work at a distance from socialising, and seeing as I very rarely drink, I too often get to witness what the drunks do at the parties.

My company are looking to arrange a night at a hotel, all inclusive stay and meal. However you have to buy your own drinks at hotel prices. I'm no scrooge but as I don't drink can't see the point in me going somewhere that charges a fiver for a soft drink.

As another self employed one man band, my xmas party tends to get a bit boring

Might have to gatecrash Imurgs instead, sounds much better....actually sounds like what we do already twice a week, but he might have a bit of xmas tinsel around his shaft and we might stop for a mince pie half way round :ears:

Fragger

We definitely ain't having one as I am expected to pay for it. Wonderful company I work for contribute absolutely eff all. No way I can afford it with a new baby in the house and golf toys to buy. I usually avoid then like the plague anyway,at the last one I stayed an hour as my own boss sat talking about business the whole time. No Ta

Another public sector worker here,no pay rise for the last 7 years, and my pension almost halved, ummmmm can barely afford to have a night out of my own choosing, let alone a night out with people i have to spend my working week with.

Aw.
You're nearly as badly off as those that work in the private sector!

We used to have one every year, spouses could attend too free of charge until we were given slave like to a new master 3 years ago. Now we have to sit back and watch the office bods we used to work along side go on theirs and shut the office whilst we have to carry on working. If we want one we can claim £25 towards but as the soul has gone out of it no one bothers anymore. The company never asks why we didn't have one, they are just glad we didn't spend their money. Pitiful.

Works Xmas meal in December at my Golf club paid for by the MD who happens to be my father in law and also a member there as well. Meal paid for all employees and partners etc. Probaly 6 out of the 40 employees wont attend. I dont drink at this one and prefer seeing other people do/say embarassing things. Then on the final day we have an almighty booze up courtesy of the scrap fund at the local pub. Carnage is always guranteed at that one and its the one where I do have a few sherberts.
