looking for some advice on any errors, as i do not know what i am looking for.

my shots are very inconsistent, with my irons i usually hit too much of the ground before actually striking the ball and with the driver they either go and stay straight left or i get a horrible slice.

and sorry for not getting the top of my head in the videos at the end of the swing, although i am sure you can still see everything that is needed.

thanks and here are the videos:

Hitting 8 Iron:

Hitting Driver:

Hitting Driver - longer video for consistency:

i have also got videos with the 5 iron and pitching wedge if needed.

I think looking at the 8 iron your stance looks a little narrow and your left knee is collapsing in on the way back. With the driver there looks to be a huge shoulder lean but with all the shots you seem to get through the ball pretty well. I think Bob (and others) will give you some more definitive pointers though and some drills

You appear to be 'sitting down' into the shot, try to maintain your height throughout the swing that way you should eliminate most of the fat shots, watch your vid and you will see the downward move before impact, good rhythm though.

It's hard to tell from the front on view, but it looks to me like you're 'reaching' for the ball at address a bit, like you're too far away from it.
That coupled with the slightly narrow stance makes it look like you're having difficulty staying balanced.

thanks for pointers guys.

as for the 'sitting down' yeah i also see that. this was a problem my pro pointed out last summer but am finding it hard to maintain the correct height.

because i am 6"2/6"3 my pro told me to have less knee bend and more leaning forward, he said this would help maintain the same height.

the balance thing is also a problem, after my shots i am a bit wobbly on my feet, is this due to the narrow stance?

eeek yeah just noticed my huge left knee collapse on the back swing.

surely there should be a little collapse in the knee on the way back though?

Looks like there is a lot of good things in your swing, just a few things to ask your pro about:
Stance looks a bit narrow and the ball looks too far back, was the camera directly face on or slightly at an angle?
Your body twists slightly on the backswing instead of coiling, you can see in the swing that the left hip moves slightly to the target during the backswing.
Also on some of the swings you lost your balance a little, either towards where the ball was and onto your toes or back away from the target.
I would recommend working on your stance and ball position, and also on loading your weight into your right leg on the backswing and driving your weight shift into the throughswing.

What i have said is purely my opinion on the videos i watched, your pro will help you much better in a one to one lesson. But as i said earlier, there are a lot of good elements to your swing. Hope you have a good year ahead of you

noticed something else about my driver, the angle of the shaft when halfway through the backswing.

look at the difference, surely that will cause problems?

am i going to steep too fast with the club?

Why not look at your stance first... as per the picture you just posted, and take it from there.

The swing starts at the bottom. Without a solid base to turn around it doesn't matter what your shaft angle is if you're going to be off balance.

We could analyse your swing all night if you want to? but you have to look at cause and effect. Sort out the stance and see what other parts FIX THEMSELVES.

One thing is for sure... you appear to get through the ball well.

What is your h/cap by the way?

don't have one, and don't really need one at the moment as want to consistently beat 100 before i am a full member at my course.

i think my big let down is slice in my drives or the ball flying straight left OOB.

as stated, not enough lateral movement to the right, also you need more extension of arms on backswing(this will prevent you "picking up" the club). try these two along with your stance. work on ONE thing only each session though, dont fill your head with too much!

more extension of the arms? my left arm is kept straight as possible during the backswing, doesn't this create maximum extension? sorry but don't quite know what you are suggesting with this.

thanks :)

I can't put you on slo-mo but have a wee look at your hands on the take away for the driver.

Are they turning immediately? Can't see your clubface in comparison to the other players but your glove logo looks to be facing the roof i e club face facing the sky from take off. I find doing this gives me the feeling of power and if timing off at all, ball is all over the place, mostly big hooks.

Check out the other golfers club faces, as shown, in comparison to yours.
