two parts to my rant...

firstly why do some golfers wear stupid multi coloured trousers and stupid bright pink tops. what is that all about, do they know that the majority of people look over and think 'KNOB!'

and secondly what's going on with tucking your trousers into your knee high sock's. i walked past a guy on the practice green and laughed under my breath, he heard and said 'problem' i said ''sorry mate, what did you say? i can't hear you over them trousers'

Have a walk down your local high street and tell me you would wear the clothes of everyone you see. :D
We are all differnet, the world would be a boring place if we all wore the same.
I dont wear too flamboyant an outfit but others wearing bright stuff doesnt bother me, some even have the talent to pull the look off!

I agree that some people do look like proper tossers in the gear they choose to kit themselves out in, and I also tend to smirk and have a little inward chuckle at them too.

All that said, laughing out loud at them and ridicule them, to me, is just as bad as laughing your head off when a complete stranger plays a bad shot. Golf is supposed to engender manners and respect isn't it?

Agree, people can dress as they like but when I read the post I thought better a quirkily dressed knob than a bad-mannered knob.

Correct!

Poor rant Charly.

Laughing at people openly is not on.

Lucky you didn't end up wearing a putter necklace. Thankfully the guy was a gentleman. He'd obviously tucked his keks into his socks to keep them dry, possibly before going out for a round.

Im all for people wearing something different,in fact i like it,i wear clothes that are smart, not loud, because it makes me feel good.Smirking at someone or even worse behind there back is just childish, direspectful and probably a bit of jealousy in there as well because you couldnt pull it off yourself.

My theory is that I won't wear flamboyant trousers until single figure handicap.

But people are free to wear what they want as long as it conforms to the club rules.

To be fair we have good banter about the gear we turn up in...............so fair play for wearing it.

OP has obviously never been to a forum meet

One admires the sartorial elegance of Rick, Murph, Viscount etc..if only because one hasnt the bottle to try it ones self.

I quite like the "Payne Stewart" look

Id like to see the OP confront Poults on his strides

Fragger

:D

You sound like a knob...whatever you're wearing.

firstly, this guy must have had supermans hearing as i laughed under my breath. second....keeping his torusers dry? it was 22 degree's, no rain. if tucking trousers into knee high socks is ok then why are numerous clubs such as walmley and drayton banning this practice?

Not being from around those parts I can only guess they are naturist golf clubs?

Sounds like a freudian slip there Brendy ;)

I know what I typed! ;) as long as nothing else needs tucked into the socks!

Sad to see you don't like people to have a bit of individuality. If we all wore black or navy trousers and plain tops wouldn't it not be akin to a uniform in the same way a collar and tie is for many. I am not adverse to wearing the odd colourful short (or pair of shoes) although my trousers tend to be a bit more conservative (compared to Murph and Viscount at least). Yes I know it makes me stand out and sometimes my golf makes me look even more foolish but so what.

We've a few guys for whom pastel coloured trousers are the norm and one guy who would regularly give Viscount a run for his money. I like to see it. I'm sorry you don't but taking the mickey, even under your breath just because you don't agree with it is poor form and your reply was cheap and unfunny. The guy clearly was able to laugh at himself and take it and not take if further (which to be fair would have been justified)
