My boss commutes to london from Newcastle, 2.5hrs each way straight into kings cross.

I think this is acceptable if your employer is flexible enough to incorporate some of your working day into the commute. I know the East coast trains have wifi so if he can get to work at 10am and leave at 4pm and work on the train it isn't quite so bad.

Folk now see house purchase as primarily an investment rather than mainly somewhere to bring the kids up.. Unlike the case when I purchased my current property... Home first, investment second...

And if they can afford first class it's free wifi and free refreshments, including alcohol😃 and proper meals.
