It's been confirmed that Chart Hills golf course has been purchased by the owners of Princes Golf Club so it'll be interesting how they intend to market it, what deals are on offer etc

Not at it's best I believe but I'm pretty certain that the Mcguirk's will restore it very quickly to former glory

Every bunker has been reinstated back to its original design after the previous owner left them to go GUR and even wanted to fill some in, but Faldo said if they did he'd remove his name from it. The whole course has had a lot of work done to make it more playable in the winter because it very wet and on clay.
It'll be interesting to see how these new guys run it. It's back on the list of possible new clubs for me now as its one of my favorite Kent courses and only 20mins from my house. Reading today I thought Princes was a Troon course but I was wrong.

Hope it gets back to it's best. Played there in the early 90s, not long after it opened on the way down to play the oldies on Kent Coast. Had a great feel about it and was in great shape.

It's been a pretty decent track when at its best and being 45 minutes from home i played it a fair few times. Was taken over by the brothers who own Old Thorns but let go by them

i think they only had a 20% stake along with a chinese consortium who had the 80%, but had to sell up, so caused problems
been a few issues over the years, but some good members there as play against them in some comps

See this announced on FB today, my guess would be a quick cash injection for improvements, a big push on package breaks coupled with princes and get its name back up in lights.

Yes, members that I've talked to have said about some houses but not about a 5 year restoration, that is a long time for what they charge for membership

Heard a hotel and refurbished clubhouse are a high priority. If they do that and get the course back to where it was then it could be a success. Biggest issue is location, so hotel badly needed to attract society golfers etc.
If they do what they have done to Princes over last few years then exciting times. Princes is the most improved course I have ever played . never really liked it, now it is a top course and in first class condition.

I think they will be a godsend to the club, they clearly are decent people and know what they are doing. Sadly, as is most of Kent it's on clay and pretty much not playable for several autumn/winter weeks

We had an approach about 10 years ago but the guys who were trying to sort a deal were idiots and we ditched them

I played chart about 4 years ago, nice layout and I did enjoy it despite it being January - I would like to go back but have heard bad things about the new-old owners and the course. Princes is lovely and I do hope they get it back up to being a gem.

They're certainly trying to recoup some of their investment in the memberships fees!
