Harrington set up a stall in a Dublin shopping centre last Saturday and sold off clubs, jumpers, polo shirts and other golfing items with all going to "GOAL". Goal is a charity set up and sponsored by all our top sports stars.

He raised €70,0000.00. Harrington stayed for over 6 hours signing autographs, having photographs taken all for charity.

Great idea---sorry i missed it.

When your a multi millionaire giving up your time is no hardship, and even giving your a million of his own money wont be a problem to him. Many people who have nothing themselves then give their time to charities or people who give their last pennies to help others thats what i call a charitable gesture.I agree that a lot of sports stars give a lot back to others but they can afford to.I know if i was rich i would give a lot back and i would find it easy to do so.

Money money money. Boring. There is more to life than money.

For the likes of Harrigton, who probably spend 40 weeks a year away from home, I would think that giving up a day when you could be with your familly, at home, is quite a big deal.

Yes really starting to feel sorry for him.Im sure the standard of living his family have makes up for him being away.As for money, money, money comment, money isnt everything never said it was but it sure helps.

Do you honestly believe its a hardship one bloody day.Time is a precious commodity to someone whos old or dying, not bloody harrington. All hes done is spend a day signing photos, selling gear he got free, probably to make space for his next load of free gear.ive got to stop feel a tear brewing.

let's be honest we could all do more for charity.

He's made a nice gesture, given a bit back from what he has earned and got some publicity for a charity.

Yes he could donate all of his earnings etc etc but does anyone on here do that much?

I applaud him, a nice idea and however the money was raised everyone wins. The people who bought the goods, the charity and Padraig feels good and gets publicity for doing a nice thing. Well done all around.

Done off his own bat, not sponsor related, so fair play to him.

One good thing about been famous is that he can raise more money and awareness for charity that you or me if we did the same.

Can't see my old golf gear raising much :)

Tiger dipped his pen in the wrong inkwell, so what. Its has he haw to do with me and everyone else except his wife. He'd make a mint if he had the same event I'm sure. Oh and well done to Paddy.
