Just been reading through the thread about drivers going in the bin and thought I'd bring this up to see what others do.

Does anyone change the the grip they use between their driver and their irons or do you always try to use the same grip ?

I've recently started gripping my driver with the V created by my right hand pointing up at my right shoulder as opposed to my irons where it points at my chin. Anyone else do this or do you all grip all your clubs the same way ?

This is just a slight change I made recently but it seems to be working and greatly improved the length of my drives which weren't that short to begin with.

I tweak my grip a little stronger for my driver. Right or wrong, dunno. It's better than being in the trees.

I'm amazed how many players religiously stick to their neutral grip which works well for mid clubs, and then complain when another banana heads off the course into a cow field.

Yesterday, I was remarkably straight. Tweaked strong for driver and weak for wedges.....only the smallest bit, but hey, Golf is about tiny degrees at times.

Why introduce a fault to cure a fault. Get the swing sorted. The loft of the mid irons are just masking the swing fault.

Is this your suggestion for me, or a comment on my comment about half decent players who can't hit their drivers without slicing.

It's the same grip, only like a nano mm one way or t'other. Hardly a fault to cure a fault i.m.o.

Would it be a fault to take a grip that works for driver (stronger) and then make that work for all the clubs? I'm talking about players that hold it a little neutral and then complain when they tail off with the the driver.

Surely the point of golf is to enjoy it, not to slave away aiming to build the perfect grip/path/face angle that may never come?

"Every great player in the world has a different grip. We all have different ways of putting our hands on the club that makes us feel comfortable."

Sorry Dave if it came across as a dig/suggestion to you. It was a comment on a comment. I do not comment on individual grip/swings. Unless invited to do so. So sorry if thats how it came across. It was more a question than comment in my mind. :o

You're a gent. I wrote it in a bad mood. Anyway, I think you are right, the proper way of doing it long term has got to be stick with the same.
