Changing clubs in competitions

After putting the advice garnered in my matchplay mentality thread to good use, I've qualified for the final of my division, and I'm playing a 36-hole final tomorrow.

I have two putters that I usually go between, a Yes! Tracy 1-2 with a Superstroke 1.0 that I use when greens are quick; and a heavier Wilson Staff 8883 with a WS Infinite thick grip for slower greens.

Is there anything to stop me from swapping the putters between rounds if I feel I'd benefit from the other one being in the bag in the second 18?

No problem. The rule relates to the (ie 1) stipulated round.
You could of course drop another club and use two putters.

Do the clubs in you sig include a GW? Reason I ask is I only count 13 (if there isn't a GW) so nothing stopping you either carrying both putters or adding in the other putter at any time in your round as a long as you don't exceed 14 clubs.

It does mate, PW, UW (don't know what the U means.. ask PING), SW, 58 is my wedge setup, so carrying 14.

I have one in my Ping clubs and assumed it was "utility" or maybe my pro referred to it as such. Can't think of anything else other than "useless" but that's a comment on the operator not the tool.

I'm almost certain that there is a rule that says you can only have one club with a putter grip on it...

You can't have a putter grip on a club that isn't a putter so that's probably where the confusion comes from as it's not common for people to carry two putters but there is a temptation from some to put a putter grip on a club for green side chipping with a putting stroke.

Used to play with a John Letters Golden Goose mallet. Playing a 36 holer at Clevedon GC (Somerset) I was having a hell of a time with it and after a grim morning round I had a putt over lunch with a Acushnet Bullseye flange from the pro shop. Love at first sight - and it worked great on the putting green so I bought it and used it in the pm 18holes. Had a cracking round and putting was great. Used it for next 30yrs. Separation two years ago was very difficult - bit like a marriage that had gone sour and I knew things would never be the same again. Funny thing the relationship between a golfer and his putter.
