I have just finished changing the clocks in the house. In total there are five in the kitchen (CH timer, wall clock, oven, microwave and radio) Three in the lounge, two in the dining room, four bedroom clocks, three watches and a grandfather clock. There are also various other clocks such as those on mobile phones, cameras, laptops and digital radios that will either change automatically or will be done later, not to mention three cars which will be changed tomorrow. Do we really need all these timekeeping devices?

When will oven and microwave makers realise the clocks on them are more hassle than they are worth! The only people I know who's oven and cooker clocks are correct are retired.

Still don't see the point of changing the clocks at all.....

You get the same amount of daylight after all.......

I agree, set the clocks so that we get the most light when we are awake and able to get outside and use it, not while we are all still in bed, wasting daylight during the dark winter is a crime but you have to get up and outside early rather than having that hour at the end of the day instead.

Up here in the depths of winter the clocks going back is the difference of golfing in daylight at 8am rather than 9 or more importantly kids going to school in daylight hours.

glad I read this thread, the alarm clock changes automatically as does the pc, the video doesn't show the time, but I must remember to change the clock in the kitchen, otherwise I'll be late for dinner.....:)

I can never remember how to do the oven and can't find the instruction manual anymore so I just leave it. HID usually gets the hump about mid-November with it being wrong and will fiddle with it until she changes it

I always thought the clocks going back were to suit scottish farmers where it didnt get light as early . Nowadays tractors have headlights , so whats the point?

Always have a chuckle when that urban myth raises its head, farmers use daylight not clocks!

Daylight saving started during the 1st world war and its goal was to save energy for the war effort. Other countries do similar but it was to aid the retail industry with longer light trading hours.
Can't remember precisely but I think Germany and USA repealed it as its outdated in the 21st century!
